It was a pleasure working with Dave, starting from the beginning of the project when he sat down with us to work out preliminary sketches, through the end where we could finally see our house as he was able to envision it.  He worked with us to keep our many, often divergent, ideas for the house consistent with the design we wanted.  In the end he provided us with a beautiful space to live in, we sometimes refer to it as the space we didn’t even know we wanted. Even our visitors will say after a short time being in our new home - "this place feels so comfortable!" They often comment on the interesting angles and how the light and shadows make the space come alive.

We also liked the fact that Dave was knowledgeable about and encouraged our desire to embrace energy efficiency before it was fashionable (our house is now a four-star rated "Vermont Efficiency" home). As an added benefit; Dave, who was a general contractor himself, helped us understand the world of builders. He is a "hands-on" architect who appreciates the construction process as well as design.

Dear Dave,

It was such a pleasure to work with you once again on another renovation.  We’re so happy with the results!  As always, I’m amazed, and grateful, how well you work with both my husband and me, seeing as how we approach the design process so differently. We appreciate so much your ability to listen, interpret, and communicate.

Sincerely,

Dave Morton designed and oversaw the construction of two large custom homes for me and my family. We found Dave to be easy to work with and extremely creative.  In both houses we were looking for a sense of stately elegance; an ornate, highly detailed design, both on the exterior and the interior. We wanted features like curved top windows and intricate, recessed ceilings; in short we were looking for a level of detailing not often found in modern houses. Dave gave us the “wow factor” which we really appreciated.

The best testimony I can provide is that after our first house experience with Dave we went back to him 15 years later for our next custom built home.
I am confident you would be very happy with Dave’s services.

My wife Brenda and I decided to put an addition on our small cape in Wellesley.  We met with Dave on several occasions to review ideas and come up with options that we could consider for our family. Dave was very knowledgeable, and committed to designing a project that would fit our family’s lifestyle. After a few iterations, Dave came up with the perfect solution for us.  The design was well scaled, a great layout, and attractive from the exterior.

We had asked Dave to put emphasis on light and casual living, and his design hit perfectly on those points and much more. Dave’s understanding of our family’s needs really made the project exciting and rewarding every step of
the way.

Additionally, I managed the construction myself and Dave was always available to answer questions throughout the project. His understanding of the building process was incredibly helpful. We would enthusiastically recommend Dave for anyone considering an architect for residential construction!

We had the distinct pleasure of working with Dave Morton on a significant addition to an 85 year-old home; dramatically adding to the living space and adding modern amenities while maintaining the character of the original structure. Dave was great to work with; he listened to our ideas and created a design that satisfied our needs. During construction he was diligent working with our builder to communicate technical challenges and details. The building department in our town was notorious for being hard to work with; he was also successful in building a good relationship with them, making the approval process much less painful.

Dave stepped into our job at a challenging time. Communications with our first architect were suboptimal and our first builder was also a challenge.  We had spent a great deal of money and had little to show for it; our trust had been shaken. Dave appreciated the tenuous circumstances from the first.  He handled communication issues with all parties both with grace and aplomb.  He was transparent in our interactions and quickly helped us to reestablish trust. He was thoughtful about both our feelings as well as the project.  He quickly appreciated where we wanted to go with the use of light and space, and had fresh and creative ideas that helped to create an end product that was even greater than our initial vision. He helped to create a space for us that is a pure joy to live in - both from a design perspective as well as from the collective energy that went into its coming to be.
Thank you, Dave. Thank you!
